Why to Hunt

Some people hunt just to get competitive gain over other people, some people do it so that they can be proud of what they shot and get it mounted, though I do it for the meat. Though its hard to just go out and kill something if you don’t know what that particular species of animals like. For example, if you are hunting for deer, they like corn and nice green grass. They usually only come out in the early mornings and later in the evening. So it would not be a wise choice to go out at high noon because the only thing you are likely to see is squirrels and birds. Now if your hunting for squirrels don’t sit in a field because they don’t run through fields they are tree climbers. So the smart thing to do is To go out in the woods and find a nice stop to sit on and just wait for the squirrels to run around and chase each other. Usually for squirrel hunting you can throw some jeans on in a camo shirt and that'll do you justice. Not like when you're hunting for deer you should wear a...

Getting ready for the seasons

Image
When you are getting ready for the season, there are some things that you should do before everything begins. One thing is that what are you hunting from like a tree stand, a hunting blind, or just sitting down behind a tree. If you are using a tree stand and it is still in the tree, go out and look at it to make sure everything is in working order. If it is like my tree stand it has a ratchet strap that keeps it connected to the tree. You would want to make sure that the ratchet strap is still in working order and that it has not ripped anywhere or loosened. If you hunt from a hunting blind most likely you had taken it down after last season. Get it out and pop it up to make sure there are no holes in it, and it doesn’t smell like mouse feces. Some hunters like setting up their blinds early in the season so it starts looking like it belongs there. Though my blind is easy to set up so I will set it up every time I go out and take it down every time I leave. If you are just hunting behi...

What to Take on a Hunt

Well the first thing you should never forget is the item you will be harvesting the animal with, like a bow or a gun. Always make sure the weapon is clean and in good working order. In my case I use a crossbow and every time I go out I make sure my strings are well waxed. You may need to take a knife and I’m not talking about a butter knife. You need to get a skinning knife or a gutting knife so that when you harvest you animal you need to be able to dress it out in the woods. Also make sure you take a pair of disposable gloves for when you dress the animal. Depending on the season of the hunt, let’s say its winter take a good pair of water proof, 20 below hunting boots I prefer rocky boots. Take a good wool hat so that you can keep the heat in your body and not letting it escape. For your legs you should wear a pair on Thermax long johns, then a pair of wool paints, then a pair of waterproof pains so that while walking thro...
