Fishing

Fishing is my favorite activity, because it takes patience and drive. Many people don't like fishing because they believe it is boring and that you never catch anything. And my response every time is that, that’s why they call it fishing and not catching. there are sometimes that I don't catch anything. Still, I know that there are fish below me. When I have those days that I haven't catched anything, I know I got to go back out there to redeem myself and maybe I made a mistake and that's why the fish aren’t biting. You can break it down to about 2 factors. One factor is that what time did I go out there. Because I have found that some ponds the best fishing is in the morning and the other ponds are best fishing at night and there are some/most that you can fish there in the morning and night and catch a lot. The second factor is that maybe I used the wrong bate, because usually I use fake bait. Though in a lot of cases I have found that some ponds are better fishing wi

Fishing from a Boat or the Shore

In this section I will be talking about is it better to fish from a boat or from the shore. Personally, I like fishing from a boat though there are in some cases that I like fishing from the shore. So, I would have to say I like fishing from a boat because I do own 3 boats. 2 of them our kayaks and the other is a 14-foot V bottom johnboat. When you fish from a boat you can go wherever you want. If you want to fish close to the shore you can just take your boat over to the shore and if you want to just fish from the middle then you can drive your boat to the middle and fish from the middle. Fishing from a boat is also helpful when you go out to lakes that either have a very steep shoreline and the only place you could really fish from is the boat launch which in some cases that's illegal. Or that the shoreline is so overrun with weeds and briar Bushes or just overgrown. One of the reasons that I also liked fish from a boat is I love the wind that comes across the Lake and hit you

Times to Fish

Many people think that you can just go out to a farm pond, a Lake, a River, or a stream and fish whenever you want. Though you can do whatever you want that fits your schedule. Like if you have kids, it might be better if you go out during the day and take out a few snacks encase the fish ant biting. Though I have discovered that if you want to fish in a pond the best time to go is early in the morning and closer to the night. And when you're fishing for catfish you don't want to be fishing in the middle of the day, the best fishing it's usually when it is dark outside. Though how early is fishing in the morning, you might ask. When I talk about fishing in the morning, I mean it is best to get out there when it is still dark outside. And I fish for about 2 hours maybe even 3 hours. Then you pack your stuff and you go back to the house. And then when the evening comes. Let's say it gets dark at 7 then usually I'll get out there around 4:30, 5:00 o'clock. When it

Where to Hunt

There are many places that you can hunt if you are unable too hot on your property, some reasons are that you live in the city and there is no possible way that you would be able to hunt on your land. Other times is that your land is a farm and some people don't like to hunt on their farm due to their livestock. Many states have areas of land scattered around their state that permit you to hunt on the property with a license and a permit. But as you might think these properties or sometimes overcrowded with hunters that the population can dwindle down quickly and the only thing, you'll be able to find are baby deer. And with most state regulated land they do not permit you to bait on the property and with that some do not permit you to put up a tree stand. Like my state they do not permit you to have a tree stand but every time you go out you can put up your ground blind. I hunt on my farm because no one else is allowed to hunt on it and so I don't have a problem with overc

Why to Hunt

Some people hunt just to get competitive gain over other people, some people do it so that they can be proud of what they shot and get it mounted, though I do it for the meat. Though its hard to just go out and kill something if you don’t know what that particular species of animals like. For example, if you are hunting for deer, they like corn and nice green grass. They usually only come out in the early mornings and later in the evening. So it would not be a wise choice to go out at high noon because the only thing you are likely to see is squirrels and birds. Now if your hunting for squirrels don’t sit in a field because they don’t run through fields they are tree climbers. So the smart thing to do is To go out in the woods and find a nice stop to sit on and just wait for the squirrels to run around and chase each other. Usually for squirrel hunting you can throw some jeans on in a camo shirt and that'll do you justice. Not like when you're hunting for deer you should wear a

Getting ready for the seasons

Image
When you are getting ready for the season, there are some things that you should do before everything begins. One thing is that what are you hunting from like a tree stand, a hunting blind, or just sitting down behind a tree. If you are using a tree stand and it is still in the tree, go out and look at it to make sure everything is in working order. If it is like my tree stand it has a ratchet strap that keeps it connected to the tree. You would want to make sure that the ratchet strap is still in working order and that it has not ripped anywhere or loosened. If you hunt from a hunting blind most likely you had taken it down after last season. Get it out and pop it up to make sure there are no holes in it, and it doesn’t smell like mouse feces. Some hunters like setting up their blinds early in the season so it starts looking like it belongs there. Though my blind is easy to set up so I will set it up every time I go out and take it down every time I leave. If you are just hunting behi

What to Take on a Hunt

Well the first thing you should never forget is the item you will be harvesting the animal with, like a bow or a gun. Always make sure the weapon is clean and in good working order. In my case I use a crossbow and every time I go out I make sure my strings are well waxed. You may need to take a knife and I’m not talking about a butter knife. You need to get a skinning knife or a gutting knife so that when you harvest you animal you need to be able to dress it out in the woods. Also make sure you take a pair of disposable gloves for when you dress the animal. Depending on the season of the hunt, let’s say its winter take a good pair of water proof, 20 below hunting boots I prefer rocky boots. Take a good wool hat so that you can keep the heat in your body and not letting it escape. For your legs you should wear a pair on Thermax long johns, then a pair of wool paints, then a pair of waterproof pains so that while walking through the snow you don’t get you wool paints w
